Also rewrote the website again, because fuck me, I suppose, but this time I actually had the ability to use php, so it’s actually not coded like a monkey at a typewriter just so happened to make JS code. Way easier than I thought, too! At least for the basic site stuff, doing mail is going to be a LOT more challenging.

Thanks kyun.host for the VPS :) very nice of you to let me spend money, and thanks to some folks on Matrix for helping me decide how to get going.

Oh, and those of you sitting on the fence about making your own site because “AH! SCARY PRICETAG!”. or “AH! SPOOKY SERVER SETUP!”. leme tell you a secret. It’s really not that bad if you’re careful. I’ve been following LandChad’s advice so far for setting things up, and it’s been a breeze, suprisingly. Also, the price of this server is like… ~4.25USD a month. Then add on an extra 12 or so for the Domain per year, and it’s only 63$ for one year of usage.

I was planning on writing a LOT more here (not really, lets be honest, but at least another 2 paragraphs worth), but I’ve spent the past two days setting up this thing and I’m starving. Gonna get a bite to eat as a gift to myself for getting this far!

So go get’em, man. Buy a VPS. Be a real cool guy with your own really cool site. Just make sure to read their TOS… Forced arbitration is fucking STUPID!
