Fluxer kinda fucks?? Yeah, actually! What it says on the tin, really. Enjoyer of alt-tech that I am, even before the whole age-verif bullshit, I’ve been trying different… “Alternatives” is a phrase I really dislike, but it’s the easiest way to clarify my point. It’s something I use every day, so I just want to pick the best thing. Same with my mail, same with my OS - as long as things function without much needing to be done from my end, sure!

Bluesky is a thing that exists. Crazy fucking concept! Yeah, I finally got around to it. Gonna use it for more posting about my specific niche interests and stick to more general posting and getting news from Masto. Don’t hate y’all just feels a bit more lively over there.
Anyway, in lieu of everyone else talking about their weird-ass ways of setting up the PDS, I feel like I need to explain how I did mine, if only for my own sanity, because holy fuck I took two days to figure out what was wrong and how to fix it.

And I can’t do anything about it. When people said I was going insane from taking my time to learn Linux, to remove google from my life, to resist using non-free software, I just scoffed and kept going. In retrospect, I should have explained my reasoning behind doing most of the shit I did, and I feel bad about not doing so. But with everything going on about ID verification for using basic online services and all the data-collection for AI training, perhaps my actions showed I was ahead of the ball-game in that regard.

Why Linux is Superiour. Despite what literally everyone else around me thinks (and says to my face), I don’t just choose what I do to hate myself. Crazy! I know for a fact that’s a part of it, but it’s not the whole story. I genuinely enjoy using the Penguin operating system over anything else offered on the table, but why exactly is a mystery, even to myself - but that’s why I decided I wanted to write this.

Freedom, Insanity, Boredom. So I got rid of Discord, and I chucked shit like Twitter into the stratosphere. On one hand, I feel significantly more free. On the other? I’m significantly more irritable, lonely, and bored.
Irritable, because I’ve had nothing but complaints from people. “Wah, we don’t want a whole new program to conversate with you. Wah, we’re too lazy to ask our fellow friends to move, unlike you. Wah, what’s wrong with Discord anyway?
