Fluxer kinda fucks?? Yeah, actually! What it says on the tin, really. Enjoyer of alt-tech that I am, even before the whole age-verif bullshit, I’ve been trying different… “Alternatives” is a phrase I really dislike, but it’s the easiest way to clarify my point. It’s something I use every day, so I just want to pick the best thing. Same with my mail, same with my OS - as long as things function without much needing to be done from my end, sure!

Replacing things with FOSS.

A list of decent alternatives & my reasoning. I’m just going to get right into this to be as informational as possible. I’ll try and go over both Phones and Computers, although I have more experience with the latter than the former.
OS You should replace your PC OS first, before doing anything else. Seriously. Microsoft makes you their BITCH and Apple is the abusive ex you crawl back to anyway.

And I can’t do anything about it. When people said I was going insane from taking my time to learn Linux, to remove google from my life, to resist using non-free software, I just scoffed and kept going. In retrospect, I should have explained my reasoning behind doing most of the shit I did, and I feel bad about not doing so. But with everything going on about ID verification for using basic online services and all the data-collection for AI training, perhaps my actions showed I was ahead of the ball-game in that regard.

Putting Discord in its place.

God, why does everyone use Discord? It feels like it should be a known fact at this point that Discord just absolutely blows chunks, but for some reason nobody I talk to seems keen on giving a fuck. I thought I would write down everything I can think of off-the-cuff to convince people to replace discord with something else, just like they replaced Skype back in the mid-to-late 10s.
Okay, firstly, it didn’t USE to be absolutely terrible.

How to run UDB on Linux.

How to run UDB on Linux. It took me a bit to figure out how to get this to work right, and other people have had trouble in the past, so I’m here to help.
Gonna break this into easy steps:
Install Git (though it should be preinstalled on most Distros?) Install Mono-Complete, Mono-Devel doesn’t have everything required to compile UDB. Select where you wish to put the code for things, and open it in your terminal.

Removing Discord from my life.

Well, I’m still here. I’ve been spending the past few days struggling without Discord, but I’ve been managing, a little. It’s been really lonely since then, but I still have people to talk to, notably on Steam. The only issue is that people ON steam don’t use the built-in chat feature whatsoever. Seriously, think about the last time you used Steam’s messaging feature that wasn’t some form of someone trying to scam you.
